Dry land Farmers’ Program

Dry land farmers’ program was implemented from 2001-2005 in Kunnam, Anthur, Othiyam, Varagur, Kallampudur and Moongilpadi villages of Veppur block of Perambalur district. Five farmers’ groups were formed and then groups were formed as Farmers’ federation with 125 members in over all. The program was supported by AME Foundation.

Environment Information Dissemination Centre

Environment Information Dissemination Centre was formed in Government Higher Secondary School, Esanai, Perambalur Taluk and District by INDO Trust. The government has allotted one centre per district to know more about environment. The centre would have books and electronic media and written slogans related to environment protection and how to safeguard from pollutions and also having information about nature, waterfalls, environment and ecological conditions of the district. The schools of Perambalur district can utilize the centre on working days to know more about the environment.

Environment Display Board Campaign

Environment Display Board Campaign was held in six districts – Perambalur, Trichy, Ariyalur, Thiruvarur, Erode and Nagapattinam. Three boards were displayed per district to create awareness among the common public about environment as well as to promote tree plantation in all over the district in public gathering places. Slogan – Maram Naduvom, Mazhai Peruvom (Plant Trees and get rainfall), Plastickai Thavirpom, Iyarkaiyai Nesipom (Avoid Plastic and love nature), Pugaiyai Thavirpom, Inbamai Vazhvom (Avoid Smoke and live happily)

Environment Badge and Certificates Distribution to School Students

Environment Badge and certificates were distributed to the members of National Green Corps. Each school gets 50 badges and certificates to 185 schools. The badges and certificates were issued by Environment department.

NEAC Program.

National Environment Awareness Campaign was conducted with the support of Ministry of Forests and Environment, Government of India, New Delhi through CPR Aiyar Foundation, Chennai. We have implemented Environment Awareness Campaign for various themes such as Combat of Desertification, Drought and Land gradation, Bio diversity conservation, Swachh Bharat Mission, Ganga Rejuvenation and River Cleaning, Combating Desertification, Land Degradation and Drought, Tree Plantation and Vermin Compost, Promotion of Kitchen gardens and all environment related subjects with awareness and action programs.

After bifurcation of Tamilnadu as North and South for Regional Resource Centre of NEAC in Tamilnadu, we were supported by PEACE Trust, Dindigul in South zone.
