Women Development

 Quarry Workers Program

INDO Trust implemented the programs for released bonded labourers from 1997-2012. The trust formed the released bonded labourers as Self Help Groups and was linked with district administration for getting lease of quarries for their livelihood. We formed 12 SHGs; consist of 20 members each. Each SHG maintained a quarry. Totally, 12 SHGs maintained 12 quarries under its own management. About 10000 families have been benefited under the program. The trust has conducted time management, cost management, Business management, Documentation, facilitated for registering a society for each group for taking lease of quarries. Mr. Paneendira Reddy, IAS, then District Collector, Perambalur is worshiped as a God for his invaluable support extended to the released bonded labourers for their livelihood.

 Minority Women Development

 Minority Women Development program was one of the network programs going on under SAAYA Network. We have formed Nine Self Help Groups and 154 members are in the groups. The main goal of the project is to mainstream the people with government schemes and they are isolated and being far away from various projects / schemes of the State and Central Government. We bring them closer to the schemes.

We have conducted skill training under Tailoring with qualified instructor. So far, we have given training to 130 Minority women in three villages. We have motivated under Health, Legal, Prevention of Early child marriages, Education, Government schemes. The program has implemented from 2006-2014 with the support of Centre for World Solidarity.

Tribal women Development Program

We worked for the development of the tribal women in Patchamalai Hill villages. We addressed on Forest Act, health behaviour, Health Hygiene, Repairing the bore wells and taken care of continuous maintenance for supplying protected drinking water. The total women beneficiaries were 1500. We were one of the members in Tamilnadu Adivasi Fifth Schedule network. The program was implemented from 2001 to 2013.

Young Women Workers in the Textile and Garment sector – ETI Project

The young girls in textile and garment industries in Tirupur, Karur, Erode, Dindigul and Coimbatore are working in unsafe conditions and facing different unwanted issues and problems in the working areas. Indo Trust is implementing the program in 50 villages of Thirumanur and T. Palur blocks of Ariyalur district.

Indo trust conducted general survey in 50 villages and identified 128 adolescent girls working in the textile industry as camp labour.

We have conducted awareness cultural programs in 45 villages in public gathering places with the concepts of government programs, basic information to be known to parents before sending their children to such factories / companies, importance of girls’ education, compulsory education up to 14 years, basic employment rights and benefits providing to workers, intimation to parents to be given regarding workers rights
